For years I used to think I was the only person walking out of thrift stores with LPs like these...and then one day discovered a local musician and music critic was onto the fact HE wasn't the only one, and that he had competition for the cream of the crop. After a few weeks of racing to the places to be first in line, we struck up a conversationa dn friendship. There are thousands of us all over the place I now know, and appreciate what's spinning on your platter this week and every week. Take care!
Thanks so much for your lovely comment. Its always great to find folks of a similar ilk. and yes there are plenty of us out there enjoying and exploring music of all kinds as we collect.
That Nina Simone LP is sort of a greatest hits on Colpix. What an elegant cover. All those Colpix LPs are worth listening too. Think I'll drag out one of the CD comps for the road trip to Maine this turkey weekend.
Agreed, the art for that Nina Simone is spectacular! I said a' Mississippi goddamn!
I LOVE your Liza collection! I've kept my eyes out for "come saturday morning" and "liza liza" for awhile now. Although I do have the soundtrack album to The Sterile Cuckoo, which is what the song "come saturday morning" is from...
Oh cool, don't have The Sterile Cuckoo. I actually pulled all my Liza out so I could see which ones I have (I always forget when I am standing at the dollar bin what I have and what I don't, so i thought in the case of Liza Mae it was time to make sure I know) and because about 12 of my nearest and dearest went to see her at Birdland Jazz club last week. Amazing performer and a living legend.
